Fingernails that Break, Chip or Peel? A Surprise Solution

Fingernails chipping or breaking

Fed up with fingernails that chip, peel or break?

What have you done or tried to do to grow strong, beautiful fingernails?

Have you tried nail hardener under your nail polish  or

False nails

I tried various supplements to keep my nails from chipping, peeling and breaking without success.

Due to all the horror stories about infections under fake nails, I never tried false nails.

My favorite holistic pharmacist, Dr. Ray Hinish in Owings Mills, Maryland at The Expert Nutrition https://expertnutrition.com/product-category/health-challenges/  recommended a product after I had back surgery so I would heal faster.

I was taking the product for my bones not my fingernails.

Image my surprise when my fingernails stopped peeling and chipping and suddenly began growing without breaking.

The product Dr. Hinish recommended is a protein powder called Hydrolyzed Collagen and the specific kind I purchased was from Great Lakes.  There are other brands which I have not tried.  The Great Lakes Collagen is available from The Expert Nutrition Center and it’s also available from Amazon.

You need to take it on an empty stomach.  (About 20 minutes before you eat or one to two hours after you eat) Just add 1or 2 scoops to any hot or cold liquid.  It has no taste.  Cost is about $24 for 16 ounces.

I was so confident about my new beautiful, strong nails that I stopped taking the protein powder after a few months.

Big mistake.

In a month or two of not taking the Collagen Hydrolysate, my nails began chipping and breaking again.

I am taking the protein powder again.

It had one other positive side effect that I wasn’t expecting.  It decreased my appetite!

And I lost a few pounds.
